Moving Forward… Along with your Input

The Yorba Linda Public Library and Arts Center project is moving along at a nice pace and we are again at a point where we’d like your input. Similar to the first time, we are again inviting you stop by the Library or Community Center to add your thoughts to the kiosks that can be found near the service desks. Additionally, you can provide your input through this online survey.

In this round of input, we would like to receive your thoughts on various design aspects of the project including paseo features, exterior accent materials, and interior design values. You’ll find a wide selection of design aspects to choose from.

Lastly, we will also be hosting a community meeting this month. This will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Travis Ranch School (Multipurpose Room), located at 5200 Via De La Escuela in Yorba Linda. The Open House (informal, drop-in) will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a Community Meeting lead by the project’s architects at 6:30 p.m. A Commission Workshop will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Black Gold Golf Club at 6:30 p.m. Download the flyer here.

City Council Approves Staff Recommendations for New Library and Arts Center

At the City Council meeting on February 21, 2017, staff presented the Library and Arts Center building programs, project costs and funding options.  The City Council approved the recommendations brought forth by city staff for the new Library and Arts Center.  The four directives are:

  1. Directed staff to move forward with the architectural design of “Option C,” comprised of a library (approximately 45,000 GSF), an arts center (approximately 13,500 GSF), and surface parking;
  2. Concured with staff’s recommended approach for financing the Library component of the project, which is based on the previous direction received from the City Council on April 5, 2016;
  3. Directed staff to refine the funding options for the Arts Center and report back to Council at a subsequent meeting; and
  4. Directed the Finance Department to issue a request for proposals to hire a financial advisor to assist the City with the issuance of debt for the project.

Thank You for Your Input

img_header_priorityAs we move forward with the planning and development of the new Yorba Linda Public Library and Arts Center, your input and feedback is an important element of the project. Recently, we invited you to take part through a survey both in-person and online.  The survey is now closed, but we want to thank everyone who participated.

As we enter into the next design phase of the project, there will be more opportunities to provide feedback.  Check back for another survey that is coming soon!

What Are Your Priorities?

On your next visit to the Library, when you are checking out materials, you might see two large boards with a number of pictures and colored stickers.  What is this you ask?  Well, it is for your input regarding the new Yorba Linda Library and Arts Center. We would like to know what your priorities include when it comes to the new facility. You’ll find a selection of areas that include group space, digital arts, outdoor gathering space, study areas and numerous other options.

Stop by the Information Desk on the Main Floor or the Circulation Desk to pick up stickers so that you too can add your priorities.
